SLSJ is proud to announce that we have nominated Kaajal Ramjathan-Keogh for the Office of the Public Protector.
Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee called for nominations earlier this year to which SLSJ has responded. After much discussions and debate it was finally agreed thatMs Ramjathan-Keogh would be our nominee of choice. Kaajal accepted our nomination and the complete nomination was sent to Parliament earlier today. We received confirmation of receipt from Parliament earlier this afternoon.
Kaajal is currently the Executive Director of the Southern African Litigation Centre (SALC). Before joining SALC Kaajal was the Programme Manager of the Refugee and Migrants Rights Programme at Lawyers for Human Rights where she spent a total of 12 years. She has also spent time working in the United Kingdom and currently sits on the board of Sonke Gender Justice and was the former board chair of the Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in SA (CORMSA). Kaajal holds an LLB from the University of Natal and has completed various courses both in South Africa and in London.
We wish Kaajal all the best on the nomination!
